Ani-Logics Outdoors

With archery season open here in Minnesota, I want to give you a sneak peek at the bucks I will be chasing this fall.  I’ll admit this year’s list isn’t as long as last year, but that is not due to any actual decrease in shooters in the areas I can hunt.  I’ve had bad luck with trail cameras this year.  In one spot, I had a long soak and the batteries died before it got into prime time, and in another spot, I had raccoons twist the strap which pointed the camera toward the sky.  As I get more and better pictures of bucks that I plan on hunting, we will post on our social media pages, so be sure to follow us to stay up to date. 

#1 Baby Drop
This is a buck I’ve had on cam for 2 years now.  He has a little droptine on his right side and he had the same thing last year.  He lives in a patch of woods that is impossible to access so I will be hunting beyond the outside edge, so I can get in and out without him knowing he’s being hunted.  Here in farm country, the bucks like to bed in small patches of cover and that helps them see danger from a long distance.  I might have to invest in a ghillie suit, so I can hunt this spot from the ground.

#2 Kevin Eleven
I asked my 5-year-old daughter to name this buck and since he has 11 points, she decided to name him Kevin Eleven.  Of all the deer on my hitlist, he has been the most daylight active.  Whether that holds true later in the year, only time will tell.  Judging on recent pictures he’s likely bedded close to that camera site.  I had an Ani-Mineral Block at this site all summer and occasionally added a few of the CRUSH 4lb Bricks around it.  Lastly, I poured out a couple of strips of Ani-Supplement GOLD at this site.  If you want to inventory a herd in late summer and early fall, there is no better way to do it than that.

#3 Amazing Jimmy
Here in town, we have a Chinese restaurant that serves a really popular dish called the Amazing Jimmy.  It’s a blend of chicken, beef, and shrimp all cooked together with a spicy sauce that everyone loves.  It’s a meat trifecta.  This buck is a scoring trifecta.  He’s got mass, character, and spread, hence the name Amazing Jimmy.  Oddly enough, the Chinese restaurant doesn’t have the Amazing Jimmy on their menu, it’s just something you can special order.  This deer is barely on my hitlist menu, mainly because he doesn’t live near where I’m getting pictures of him.  The only 2 series of pics I’ve gotten were precisely 2:18 AM about 3 weeks apart.  He is probably a deer that travels a long distance to get to this Ani-Mineral Block site, and he makes sure he’s back home before sunrise.  He’s probably the highest-scoring deer on the hitlist, assuming he doesn’t break off that extra beam.  He slides down to #3 though because of his lack of daylight appearances.  I’ll need to get extremely lucky during the rut to have any chance at this guy.

#4 Brow Tine
I asked my 7-year-old daughter to name this buck and since he has brow tines, she decided to call him “Brow Tine.”  I told her that nearly all bucks in our area have brow tines, but she wanted to stick with it.  All I really would like to call him is “mine” when he’s in the back of the truck.  He’s got a nice typical frame with 5 points on his right side.  He’s another buck living in the small patch of cover as Baby Drop, so I’m faced with those same challenges.  If either one of those bucks makes a mistake, we will tell you all about it!
